District 9: Can aliens help with age old discrimination issue?

I'm sure that by now you've probably seen the ads for District 9 on buses, bus stops, benches and a lot of other places. I think it's brilliant. Discrimination out in the open but at the same time it's bringing all human races "together" against the alien refugees.

I remember thinking that it was an interesting idea when I read Alan Moore's Watchmen. One of the questions that came from it was: Can an alien threat unify humanity and make them forget about their differences?
After watching Neill Blomkamp's "Alive in Joburg", a few months back, I was really impressed by the story and setting. Neill Blomkamp's decision to place the story in South Africa, out of all places, was Genius for obvious reasons! Take a look. The special effects are not great unless we are talking about B movie. In this case the story is what's important.
After watching the teaser trailer for District 9 I was in Awe. I loved the documentary style with testimonies and the realness of the whole thing.

And now watch the latest District 9 trailer:
It looks very good but I'm kind of scared that the way I interpreted "Alive in Joburg" is a little too deep and that some of the ideas will be sacrificed to fit more action in the feature.
Don't get me wrong I saw(and by now you also saw) what Neill Blomkamp can do with a very small budget. I'm convinced that the action will be interesting and the fusion between real and alien technology(CGI). He did special effects for Halo shorts(yes the Halo the video game ) and shows such Smallville and Dark Angel. All this doesn't really give him credentials but rest assured!!! District 9 will be produced by none other then Peter Jackson this should be enough to get you to the theater.
The viral marketing campaign is fantastic. It puts you right there with the same propaganda that you see in the trailers. District 9 is everywhere. (see the website: http://www.d-9.com ) Sony did learn from the best. Let's just hope that the screenplay Neill Blomkamp wrote is true to his original ideas and that the studios did not push for too much of that Hollywood mind numbing pre-packaged microwave oven frozen and re-frozen ready to serve recycled crap!!
For now, I say with no hesitation that I will see it!!
What do you think?
