My disdain for Transformers 2

If you listened to our latest podcast you probably heard me go off at the latest Transformers movie. On so many levels I was disappointed, even to a point where I felt disrespected by the people who made this movie. I seriously felt they should have issued this movie with a warning!! They should have warned the public that we should leave all reasoning behind when we enter the theatre because it seems these people were content to just present to us a movie about GM cars that transform.
Never mind trying to explain why all the humans especially regular ones (the protagonist, his girlfriend and his mom and dad) with no super powers could miraculously escape powerful machines that have the ability to fly, transform and have alien like knowhow of events that even humans who work for the CIA, FBI and some other US govt departments of a secret nature have no clue about.
It was like I was watching the A-Team and Hannibal would have loved it when the plan all came together at the end! Not that there is anything wrong with the A-Team, in fact the A-Team was fuckin awesome but we are not in the 80's anymore. Explosions and bullets plus flying rocks with zero casualties do not impress us anymore!! Our minds have developed too much to go through 2 hours of unexplicabale escapades and just sit there and accept it. Steven Segal tried that formula and look where it took him???
Come on man Transformer makers!! You were given all this money to make a good movie and it’s like you got lazy. The first Transformers was quite good I must say. I can't forget how that helicopter flew down to the desert and transformed just before it touched the sand, and how about how that scorpion like decepticon terrorized the soldiers in the desert before that army plane came and circled it with vicious artillery! That was a very interesting scene.
Now the problem is that the first one was a breath of fresh air such that I overlooked the obvious such as the Autobots being all GM cars yet according to the story line these transformers came to earth way before humans invented the car. You might argue that they transformed into the first cars they set their sights to, but really, what are the odds that all the autobots first sight of vehicles was GM cars and that none of the decepticons laid sight of GM cars??? I know it was product placement but that whole concept just compromised the story telling of this movie.
I’m pretty sure that Transformers-3 will make good money but so did Steven Segal and Soulja Boy Tell ‘em! How are these three related?? Well you tell me! Until next time people let’s keep watching them movies and keep Hollywood alive.
Awesome Gerald!!
